Printed and near print materials, newspaper clippings, and some correspondence collected or created by Donald P. Irish, a professor of sociology at Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota. Two folders of correspondence, newspaper clippings, and printed materials contain materials on Hamline-Englewood and other St. Paul neighborhoods. Of particular significance, and relating to the Hamline-Englewood area, are the following subjects (1973-1979): controversy surrounding the conversion of the Bethel College site to a Job Corps center, environmental problems caused by the Koppers Coke plant, and the establishment of the St. Paul Drug Rehabilitation Center.

Editorial cartoonist Reginald West Manning was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1905. He moved with his widowed mother to Phoenix in 1919 and began work with the Arizona Republic in 1926, handling all their photography and art work. Manning became an editorial cartoonist on July 17, 1934. Manning was initially known for his feature cartoon page, The Big Parade, in the Arizona Republic .
